Plot Details
Additional Info
- Jason Hawkins (Mike Vogel) is seen in the teaser wearing a Slusho! T-shirt similar to the ones sold at Slusho.jp.
- Slush-O was a Slurpee-esque beverage which appeared in the second episode of Abrams' television show ALIAS.
Rumors
- Moriarty of Ain't It Cool News reports that the monster is "being referred to internally as 'The Parasite.'"
- An anonymous source present during the filming in Coney Island claims it is "an alien that wipes out all of New York City."
- People have speculated that Kelvin Yu, Brian Klugman, and Yellowcard frontman Ryan Key appear in the teaser, but there is no evidence confirming or denying this. Similarly, it's been speculated that Aaron Paul appeared in one of the photos (which has since been removed) on Jamie's MySpace page, but even if it is him, this does not mean he will appear in the film.
Debunked Rumors
- Ethan Haas has nothing to do with this film. Abrams wrote to Harry at Ain't It Cool News to dispel that rumor himself.
- There are A LOT of fake sites floating around pretending to be official. They're not. I'm not even going to list them here because they don't deserve the additional traffic. Please do not waste my time asking me if a site you found is real or not. If it's not listed above, it's FAKE. Comments linking to such sites will be deleted and marked as spam.
- The character in the teaser does not say, "It's a lion! It's huge!" He says, "It's alive! It's huge!"
- Abrams' comments at Comic-Con indicate that the monster in this film is going to be original, and he specifically said that it is not Godzilla or King King. It's also not a remake of The Host or a sequel to Jurassic Park or Ghostbusters as Paramount does not own the rights to those franchises. It's completely unrelated to the upcoming Voltron movie. Similar rumors about other famous creatures are unsubstantiated and almost definitely false.
- Abrams also dispelled rumors saying the title of the film was "Monstrous." These rumors started when an official poster was leaked with the word "MONSTROUS" above it. It turns out that this was the first in a series of four teaser posters for the film. Other posters contain the words "FURIOUS" and "TERRIFYING." No word yet as to what the fourth poster says. It's possible the fourth is just the same poster without a word above it.
